Description of the Assessment Tests for mature students

The full name is "Pruebas de acceso a la universidad para mayores de 25 años" (University entrance examinations for students over 25 years old)

Each University Faculty or Centre organises its own assessment tests for this purpose and candidates are to be assessed at the faculty or centre where the university degree of their interest  is taught (e.g. If the candidate wants to study Law, s/he has to pass the assessment test organised by the Faculty of Law). 
You can only enter those centres at the Universities where the assessment tests have been passed and the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia -UNED- (Spanish State University for Distance Learning). 

Requirements

Candidates must be 25 years old before 1 October. 

Candidates shall not be awarded any degree allowing them to enter the ordinary examinations for the studies they are applying for. 

- If you have taken the Pre-University Course, you cannot apply for the assessment tests to enter diploma degrees (3-year study programmes), though are encourage to take  4 or -5year university degrees (licenciatura, ingenieria y architectura).
- If you have passed the Pre-University Course 88/89, they have to enrol for the University Entrance Examinations (Selectividad)
- If you have passed Vocational Studies, you can only enrol for the assessment tests leading to university degrees that you cannot accede with your vocational qualifications. 

What do the Assessment Tests for mature students consist of?

Generally, these tests share a common structure for all university degrees including:: 
          - Lecture or text analysis
          - Translation into Spanish from a previously selected EC language (with dictionary).
          - Current topic or general culture test, normally related to the studies you are applying for
          - Specific test (on the panel request) 
          - Those candidates succeeding at the assessments tests and not registered to the introductory course, or not attending a minimum of a 75% of the course, have the right to be registered to the next year's course. If this course is neither attended nor passed, the candidate will be declined her/his rights. 

Assessment Tests for the Faculty of Law:

1. EXAMEN: 
                                      - LECTURE: 40 minutes,
                                        oriented to the selected studies. 

                                        - MODERN LANGUAGE TEST: direct translation into Castilian or 
                                          Valencian, with dictionary.

                                        - DEVELOPMENT OF A TOPIC on general culture,
                                          proposed by the panel

                                        - PERSONAL INTERVIEW: Exploration on the candidate's cultural 
                                          background and on the reasons justifying the election of the studies 
                                          s/he has chosen (on the panel criteria).

2. INTRODUCTORY COURSE: 
Within the next 10 days after the publication of the results, successful candidates should accomplish the registration form to the introductory course (registration fees: 11.696 PTAs.). Those attending the course for the required length, will be given a certificate, which is required for the registration to the first academic year.
Those students without certificate or non-registered to the course, can apply for registration to the next year's course. If this course is neither attended nor passed, the candidate will be declined her/his rights.

2 hours.
The University of Alicante. Organisation. Governing Board and Representation. Faculties, Colleges, Institutes, Departments. Students' Services. The Students' Council. University Identity Card (TIU). Physical space: the campus.
University Degrees. Study Programmes. Core Curricular Subjects. Curricula. Credits. Examination calls. Continuance. Examinations. Tutorials.
2 hour.
Registration. Registration cancellation. Grants and Financial Help. Validations. Transfers. Academic Calendar. Timetables.

 
SPECIFIC CONTENT FOR EACH STUDY PROGRAMME TEACHING LOAD
The Faculty/University College. Governing Board and Representation. Students' Services.
 1 hour.
Study Programmes. Curricular Design. The University Degree Certificate. Professional Career.
 2 hour.
Techniques of Study. Documentation. Elaboration of Works. Basic Descriptions on the Core Curricula of the Study Programme. Basic Bibliography.
 8 hour.

 
 

After having passed the Assessment Tests for mature students

You are allow to be registered to the University Faculty/Centre's Study programmes for which the assessment tests were passed. At the Faculty of Law, you would be eligible to enter the following programmes: 4-year degree in Law, 3-year degree in Public Management and Administration or those attached to the Institute of Criminology

The Spanish State University for Distance Learning  (UNED) admits students that have passed the assessment tests at other universities. 

Holders of this certificate are eligible to enter the open competitions for Public Administration, provided that this is specified in the corresponding official announcement
