University of Alicante scientists researching the possibility that the Mediterranean dried up in the past
Could the Mediterranean Sea dry up in the future? Scientists at the University of Alicante may be able to help answer this question thanks to their ongoing research into Mediterranean Sea levels in other eras. Results so far indicate that at least part of the Sea was dry land millions of years ago. Knowing why it dried up could help scientists predict what we can expect to happen to the Mediterranean in the years ahead.

Forced migrations is one of the problems affecting millions of people all over the world. According to ACNUR, at the end of 2008, there were around 42 million forced expats in the world. This figure includes around 15.2 million refugees, 827.000 applicants for asylum and around 26 million internal migrants.

This morning, the 1st Gender Equality Plan between Women & Men of the University of Alicante has taken place with the attendance of the University President, Ignacio Jiménez Raneda and Mª José Frau, Director of the Gender Equality Unit. Frau, in her intervention, has pointed out, that the role of universities in equality matters, should go beyond legal demands and accomplish their role of institutions transmitting values.

According to the organizers of the Symposium, which is aimed at physicians and primary health care nurses type-2 diabetes is the first cause of avoidable hospitalization and the promotion of Islamization in primary health care is the most efficient measure.
