UNIVERSITY VILLAGE 
  NOTES ABOUT THE VILLAGE
  1. San Vicente del Raspeig Town Hall and the University of Alicante have jointly laid the foundations and criteria for the prospective university village.
  2. For the village implementation, both the public and the municipal administration will call for bids (to both the public and private initiative) in order to award the building contract according to the criteria, foundations and guidelines agreed by the Administration.
  3. As it has been proposed, the University Village must be attached the following characteristics:
    • LOCATION: On the currently land undeveloped between the university area and San Vicente urban area, achieving continuity to the university installations and incorporating them into the city of San Vicente.
    • FUNCIONALITY: Preference will be given to those wide open and green areas, also to pedestrian and cycling routes, providing the central boulevard the required continuity so as to remain the spine of both spaces. The creation of some nice architectural buildings is intended within a city-garden- like environment, decreasing, therefore, the impact  of the prospective secondary road barrier. All this would be achieved by means of requesting the Generalitat a depression of such road in its pass through the central boulevard. 
  4. The following contents are worth to be pointed out from the organisation scheme, currently in preliminary phase:
    1. ACCOMMODATION: 1850 places in several types (university apartments, halls of residence with integrated cultural and administrative centre, and single-houses for teachers and administrative staff) will be available.
    2. EXECUTION PHASES: To start with, three phases will be constructed, according to the availability and achievement of the corresponding plots of land. This will be developed through an urban programme with the aim of starting the first phase within the year 1999 and achieving at least the 40 per cent of the whole work.
    3. SPORTING CENTRE: At the same time as the village is executed, an excellent provision for sports will be carried out on the adjoining land.
