ABSTRACT OF THE CURRICULUM OF IGNACIO JIMÉNEZ RANEDA

 

Born in Alagón (Saragossa) in 1951. Married with two sons. After completing primary and secondary education studies in Saragossa, he took Political, Economic and Business Sciences at the University of Valencia. Graduated in the Economic Sciences section in 1973, was allocated the “Cañada Blanch” Prize (awarded to best dissertations). His career started at the University of Valencia as an Assistant Lecturer and Research Fellow. In 1978, was awarded the Degree of Doctor in Economic Sciences and assigned to the former University College 'CEU'. An academic member of the University of Alicante since its creation, he gained a position as a Full Lecturer in 1984 and Professor in the area of Economic Analysis in 1996. 

His research activity has been focused on the field of Microeconomy, particularly in international economics models and in the general equilibrium linear analysis model. Author of two books and several articles published in both national and international specialized journals. He has participated in a number of the CICYT research projects and submitted papers to conferences focused on his areas of specialization. 

Also, he has been a member of the External Committees of the National Plan for Quality Assessment of Universities in Spain. In 1986, joined the Management Board of the Savings Bank 'Caja de Ahorros de Alicante y Murcia' as Second Deputy Chairman and was Chairman of the Alicante Territorial Board.

His commitment to the university management started in 1984. He was first Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences from 1984 to 1984, and Dean of the same Faculty from 1986 to 1990. Director of the Department of Economic Analysis (1990-1992) and Vice President for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure & Services in June 2001. In 25 January 2005, he took office as the University of Alicante's President.
