El rector de la Universidad de Alicante ha presentado al empresario y profesor de la UA Iván Sempere como nuevo presidente de la Fundación Empresa Universidad de Alicante. FUNDEUN convocó a su Patronato para elegir nueva junta directiva, convocatoria a la que concurría una candidatura única y que sustituirá a la junta anterior presidida por Eliseo Quintanilla, quien ha ejercido el cargo de presidente de FUNDEUN durante 19 años.
El viernes 10 de febrero, el reconocido arquitecto, escultor y pintor Juan Navarro Baldeweg, participará en la celebración del Mes Cultural de la Escuela Politécnica Superior de la UA. Baldeweg impartirá la Lección Magistral “Materia, Signos, Nada” en el Salón de Grados de Óptica a las 13:00 horas y será presentado por el profesor del Departamento de Expresión Gráfica y Cartográfica, José María Torres Nadal.

The director of the University of Alicante's Institute of Organic Synthesis and Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Miguel Yus Astiz, has received further recognition of his work. On this occasion, Professor Yus has been awarded the Portuguese-Spanish Chemistry Award "Lourenço-Madinaveitia Conference" 2011.
The University of Alicante participates in the European project "Eradication of the use of physical punishment on children within family and institutions", which aims to contribute to the elimination of corporal punishment on children by developing programmes, awareness and training materials for parents and professionals of the social and school scope related to methods other than physical punishment.
