Professor Bru-Ronda began her teaching and research career in January 1981, with her Bachelor's Thesis and her first research contract in the "Division of Geography" of the "Department of Geography of Spain", at the University of Alicante (Spain). She earned a PhD in Geography in December 1986. She has been a Full Professor (tenured) in the subject area of Regional Geographic Analysis since May 1987.

For over two decades, her research interests and teaching activities have focused on Regional Geographic Analysis and territorial studies, dealing particularly with land planning and management and land use regulation. Since 1994, Prof. Bru-Ronda expanded her research activities to include the subject area of educational planning and management, on the request of the Rector's Office of the University of Alicante, with a view to offering several new degrees and specialty courses at the University of Alicante and neighboring communities. As a result, her teaching and research activities and her publications cover that subject area, too.

Among other scientific achievements, she has published 11 books and 26 articles; she has participated in 20 subsidized research projects; and she has given 26 paper presentations at scientific conferences, symposia and meetings. She has actively organized 16 conferences and symposia and taught numerous courses, several of which were part of international cooperation projects dealing with the subject of university management and education.

She has been involved in multiple R+D projects funded by CICYT ("Inter-Ministerial Commission for Science and Technology"); the Department of Culture, Education and Science of the Government of the Region of Valencia; the Spanish Ministry of the Environment; the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs; and the European Commission. She has combined that involvement with her teaching activities, namely the teaching of several courses in the bachelor degrees in Geography, Catalonian Studies, Teacher Training, and Tourism Management, as well as post-graduate courses in Geography, Humanities, Tourism Management, and, finally, University Extension courses in collaboration with public and private organizations, both in Spain and abroad.

Since 1994 she has held several academic positions. She has been formally appointed: Director of the Official School of Tourism Management of the Region of Valencia; Vice-Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities; Director of the International Maritime Institute of Alicante; Director of the Official School of Tourism Management of the University of Alicante; Director of the Alicante venue of the said University; and at present she is the Director of the University of Alicante's Permanent University.
