Joaquín
Martínez Lorente read English at the University of
Murcia (1981-86) and joined the English Department in 1986, where he
has taught English Poetry and English Narrative (novel and fantasy
fiction). His doctoral dissertation on genre theory and utopian
writing (1991) oriented most of his research in subsequent years
(mainly on narratology). Apart from a coursebook-anthology (English
Poetry: Lyric 2001), he has edited and translated into Spanish
works of literary theory (Lubomir Dolezel’s Estudios de
poética y
Teoría de la ficción
2000), fiction (Samuel Butler’s Erewhon
2000), and nonfiction (Samuel Pepys’s Diary 2006).
