Juan Antonio Suárez, B.A. (Murcia), M.A. and PhD
(Indiana University).
He has
been a visiting lecturer at the Department of Cinema Studies-New York
University. He joined the Department in 1994 and currently teaches
courses on US literature. He has written on avant-garde literature and
film, postmodern aesthetics, gay studies/queer theory, and film
studies. He is the author of the books Bike Boys, Drag Queens,
and Superstars: Avant-Garde, Mass Culture, and Gay Identities in the
1960s Underground Cinema
(Indiana UP
1997) and Pop
Modernism: Noise and the Reinvention of the Everyday (University
of Illinois Press
2007). His articles
have appeared in the journals New Literary History, Journal
of American Studies, and ÖZG: Österreichische Zeitung für
Geschichtswissenschaften and in edited collections such as
Experimental Cinema: The Film Reader (Routledge 2002) and Film
and Television after 9/11 (Southern Illinois University Press
2004), among
others.
